A Valentine’s Day Note from Tennessee Disability Pathfinder

“A Greeting to Our Pathfentines from Tennessee Disability Pathfinder, created by S. Adams-Avery, CDT, CDP

Alt text: A vintage parchment‑style graphic with ornate corner flourishes and a soft golden background. Centered text reads: “A Greeting to Our Pathfentines From Tennessee Disability Pathfinder.” The design resembles an elegant Regency‑era letter. This is the same letter that is visually displayed on screen in the accompanying video.

And now, a small delight to accompany our message. Here are a few ideas for enjoying the day your way.

Valentine’s Day looks different for everyone,  whether you’re celebrating with a partner, friends, family, or simply taking time for yourself. Here are a few helpful tips to make the day smoother and more enjoyable:

Plan ahead for transportation or timing. Weather, traffic, and appointment schedules can change quickly, so allowing extra time can help reduce stress.

💬 Communicate your needs early. Whether it’s sensory preferences, mobility needs, or support with logistics, sharing what helps you feel comfortable can make the day go more smoothly.

🍽️ Choose spaces that work well for you. Restaurants, events, or at‑home plans can all be great—pick what supports your comfort, energy, and access needs.

🌹 Celebrate your way. Romantic dinner, movie night with friends, quiet evening at home, or a day focused on self‑care, there’s no one “right” way to enjoy the holiday.

💛 Listen to your body and pace yourself. Rest when needed, take breaks, or shift plans if something becomes overwhelming.

🎁 Small gestures matter. Notes, calls, shared playlists, sending a favorite snack, or creating something handmade can be just as meaningful as big plans.

Everyone deserves connection, joy, and moments that feel good—today and every day. 💚
